Had a good weekend....

but didn't get as much done as I wanted LOL

I finished another cell phone charm, two pair of earrings and a knit cuff/bracelet that I need to get some photos of(but here's a scan)...

   

   

We had a nice weekend.  Did some cleaning out WOO HOO  and Brandi's best friend came for the weekend...so they went to see the Twilight movie (for the second time LOL), we stopped for a coffee, etc.  Today we brought Brandi's friend home and stopped at Books a million on the way....picked up 3 new Crochet books...that look pretty good...and I'm itching to play with them :)  But probably won't get to until I finish up Christmas gifts. 

So tomorrow is Sam's day off and we hope to decorate our tree and put up the outside decorations and lights and work on more Christmas gifts we are making.  and I'll be participating in the First Monday ETSY Texas Crafters .... so stayed tuned :O)  Also my dear friend, Penny nominated me for a Blogger award....I'm so ready for bed and headed that way soon....so I'll share the awards and nominate some friends myself tomorrow.  Thanks Penny!!

Finishing....

Lately I've gotten really bad about finishing things off.  I sit and knit and leave piles of things that just need the tails tucked in or a flower/yo yo sewn on.  Or I do a large batch of gel transfers...and there they sit.  I use to do only one project at a time and not start another until I was finished.  Guess having a toddler around changes how you do most things :)

So this weekend I'm devoting my extra time (beyond housework and cooking, etc) to FINISHING some pieces.   I hope to scan and list new pieces in my ETSY Shop throughout the weekend.  This week I finished and listed these 4 book thongs (The last one is sold).

 

 

 

 

Last night I did sit and tuck in some ends and sew some seams while we watched National Treasure 2.  Did I ever share my "BIG UGLY CHAIR"??  I LOVE my chair...and as much as I heard the older kids call it UGLY when I first got it...I sure do find them in it a lot!!  lol  I had a rocker glider before and for knitting it did not work well...the arms were always in the way.  So I started hunting for a better knitting chair and had almost given up hope of finding one.  One weekend I went to one of Joy's (friend that runs an estate sale business) Estate sales....just 2 blocks over and 2 blocks down.  Walked in the front door and there it was...MY CHAIR!!!  But WOW it's big (so I'm thinking how can I squeeze this in??) and WOW the color is kinda WILD...doesn't really "GO" with our livingroom.  I sit in it to try it out...it is PERFECT!!  I've had it about 6 months, I think.  Should have heard the groans when I brought it home...of course not from Sam he just smiled and thought it was very me.  so now I have moved it to my own little corner...out of the livingroom main stream and added my footstool (that opens and holds yarn of course) and put a bookshelf with my magazines, books, and Linda Koch's Handspun yarns.  I just love my little corner.  The chair doesn't have a very soft cusion...so I put a vintage scrap quilt ...that has a chenille spread as the center...made bmy my great grandmother Annie to the seat part.  Anyways come to find out my chair belonged to a Knitter/Crocheter named Vergie and she sat in and used this chair for over 30 years...it was the most recognized piece by the family.  I bought many of Vergie's treasures...yarn, fabric, trims, lace, beads, knitting needles, etc.  WOW the collection she had was amazing!!

   

This morning I finished these 2 Asian Lady Ornaments and cell phone charm. 

The 4 book thongs and Asian Ornaments are images from Lost Art Creations and the cell phone charm image is from Paper Imagery Designs .

    

 

now....off to list some and then see what else I can get FINISHED!!  Guess really I should also work on FINISHING and mailing our Christmas cards :o)

Hello---ONE MONTH UNTIL CHRISTMAS DAY!!!!!!!

We went to the lake this weekend...and had such a nice weekend.  I got a good bit of knitting done (none finished off to share yet though). 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I've been working on lots of Christmas Swaps and things that I can't share yet....but will soon.  Today I worked on gel transfers and hope to finish those items soon.  I did finish up these two pieces for the TRIMMINGS Paper imagery designs Monday Challenge...

 

WOOOOOOOOOSSSSH!!!

Hard to believe a week has flown by since I posted last.  It was a VERY FULL and BUSY week!!  Sam was off on Tuesday and Thursday....we sure enjoyed the extra time together.

I've been working away on every ART and Christmas related project I can with every minute I can grab. 

I've finished up my 12 days of CHristmas  packages for the swap that sweet Jeri Aaron at http://artfulgathering.typepad.com/ is hosting.  Here's a peak...ok not really just how I packaged them :O)

I've been trying to sprinkle a few new items in my ETSY Shop every chance I get.  Last night I added this Christmas Bamboo Tile Necklace that I finished yesterday.

    

I've also been knitting, crocheting and SPINNING!!  I'm about 1/2 done spinning a batt of fibers that I bought from Linda Koch.  I'm enjoying the spinning...but don't see it as something I will get hooked on.  I like to grab a yarn and work.  My spinning is currently on hold until I get another block of time...but will share when I am finished. I've several pieces ready to be finished off.  Did finish a little boys hat...but see that I forgot to snap a picture of it.  OOPS

Last Wednesday.  My sister and I made Ornaments with the kiddos to put in with our Christmas cards.

We had fun....

 

 

 

Thursday night we brought the kids to the Fall Festival at the Elementary school that my Mom works for.  It was fun.  Think Brynna really had a good time...

   

I made a discovery on Saturday.  I was working on a set of gel transfers  and did the steps early in the morning and let them dry while we headed to Beaumont.  Sam and Travis (our BIL) were drawn as finalists in a 4-wheeler give away contest...no neither won :O(  LOL  But when I got home I decided to go ahead and soak and remove the paper from my transfer so I could get them finished.  I've always let them dry over night before...just because I do that with the humidity in our area for safety sake.  But it doesn't give a drying time on the bottle....just says dry until clear.  So......well.....learned a couple hours is not dry enough.  Look at this MESS...after discovering this and getting this bubbled mess they never dried....WEIRD!!!  So in the trash they went.  Live and Learn.

   

Well...off to see what I can get done with today  :)

More Fiber Play.....so much FUN!!!

Two more Neck Warmers with absolutely BEAUTIFUL yarn from Linda Koch... 

I made this one with a beautiful and FUN ART yarn..that just has a little bit of everything and some of the Romney and Lincoln yarn (also used in the next pictured neck warmer) also from Linda.  I added a fabric yo-yo and vintage buttons...

 

 

 

and this one knit with Linda's Handspun Romney and Lincoln Locks yarn.  The colors in this yarn just SING!!!  I decided to add this fabric yo-yo that I made from a vintage oriental silk dress (damaged estate sale find) added some of the buttons from the dress and two more vintage buttons....

 

 

 

Here are two scarves I finished up .... (poor things were waiting for me to tuck the ends)....they are knit with a  neat yarn I recently found while shopping...called Ticker Tape...an Italian 100% nylon ribbon yarn....feels neat ...soft and stretchy...

   

 

Both Neck Warmers and Scarves (and hopefully more from my pile) will be listed sometime today in my ETSY SHOP.

Fiber Play

This morning I've been playing with fiber projects.  I was so inspired by the yarn I recieved from Linda yesterday that last night, while we caught up on our shows...love that DVR, I knit this Neck Warmer with a BEAUTIFUL Wool.  I crocheted the edges and some fun round bobbles with a yummy cotswold I'd purchased from Linda some time back.  This morning I added a vintage button and the bobbles with an apricot colored glass pearl in the center of each.  Can't wait to make another handspun project...darn other things I have to do today!!!

 

   

 

 

Here's the BEAUTIFUL Wool I used...

 

Earlier this week I crocheted a hat with the intention of adding it to my ETSY Shop.  Before I even got the flower made Brynna (our 3 year old) adopted it as her own.  This morning I crocheted and added the flower...she'll be so surprised when she gets up.  The girl LOVES COLOR!!

(Please excuse my ugly wig head...she has seen her better days...I am currently looking for a newer one)

 

YARN and FIBER Heaven!!!

What a way to kick off the weekend!!!  Our mailman just delivered a big box of YUMMY from my dear sweet Friend, Linda Koch.  http://primdollie.etsy.com  I can not explain how WONDERFUL this yarn is.  It's just absolutely FABULOUS!!!!  I also ordered my first batt.....to play with and maybe try spinning.  OH WOWZA...I had no clue it was going to be so BIG!!!!  WOW!!!  and Linda was a dear and sent along a little extra to contribute to my new addiction that she is convinced I will have LOL  Just look at this (then I've gotta run----I've got new yarn to play with)

A question that my dear friend, Diann http://diannsartspot.blogspot.com/ asked.  I'm to answer and ask three of my blogging friends. 

So to answer.... Yes, I have my Jingle on!!  But wishing I was jingling along a bit faster. I have SO MUCH TO DO!!!  and such a little amount done.  I've a few gifts purchased...only 3 wrapped.  I'd like to have our Christmas cards done by Thanksgiving...sure need to start those!!!!  LOL  and soooooo many gifts on my to make list.  Sam and I have been working on a few, but haven't completed any yet.  Is it too early to start panicing??

I did get one holiday thing finished this morning.  My gifties for the paperimagerydesigns.com yahoo group 12 days of Christmas swap.  Which will remain secret for now.  HEE HEE....but I can share them all wrapped up :)

LOL  Ok trying this again. Had started the other night, didn't get finished and that happened to be the night my computer did the auto maintenance thing and restarted itself!!  YEAH  lol

 Dear  Dawn Gold, such a sweetie, was kind enough to nominate me.  I'm to tag 7 more players and then list 7 facts about myself.  I would say something here....but think I'll save that for number 1.  LOL  so....

1.  I dislike talking about myself. 

2.  I wish I could survive on Coffee, Chocolate, and Dr. Pepper. 

3.  I'm married to a very handsome Mailman and feel so blessed.  BUT~~Still wish they'd geta discount on postage!!  LOL

4.  My favorite place to visit is Estes Park, Colorado....I even dream of living there...but don't think I could take the winters  lol   Sam and I both wish we had a place in the country with some land--probably still in TX.

5.  I have an addiction to fibers...yarn, fabric, roving, ribbon, string...doesn't matter love it all.  I'd rather sewby hand...because my machine and I don't get along....it scares the bageebers out of me.   I have no desire to sew clothes or much of anything that requires a pattern.

6.  I played clarinet, bass clarinet, french horn, and mellophone in band.  (Quit band in 10th grade for Drill Team).  I do think of getting a french horn again, miss playing it....but can't really ever see me playing one again.

7.  I LOVE music ...and a wide variety too.  George Straight, Janis Joplin, Rod Stewart....I could list a bunch LOL  and I really love the song "White and Nerdy" by Weird AL.  LOL  It just cracks me up!! Sam ordered new phones...I said yeah looks good...didn't really pay attention because I don't use my cell phone much and always use an ear piece.  Boy was I thrilled to fine that it's a Music Express with built in music player!!!  FUN!!!  I'm really enjoying mine!!
