We are evacuating for Gustav...sometime tonight or early tomorrow. I'm on the TX/LA border (Jefferson Co. TX...near Beaumont). I will let everyone know when we return.
I will be closing my ETSY store until we return...feel free to purchase whatever you like....but be aware I may NOT be able to ship for a little while.

Back to school is going well. But our littlest one is not napping and getting up early ....poor tired little lady...hopefully it will catch up with her soon and turn into a daily nap or earlier bedtime LOL Everything else is fallen back into routine....So hopefully I'll be getting more ART time as the days go on.
Here's what I did with a good chunk of my Saturday....I made my Book for the Home Sweet Home Paper Imagery Designs Yahoo Group Mingle. The pages are ATC size (2.5 x 3.5 inches) but in the shape of a house.
Now speaking of HOME...if it does not rain again today (looking very gloomy right now UGH) we will be working on our home some more. Next step is replacing a 14 foot 6x6 seal...then I have to clean out the laundry room because floor and rafters have to be replaced...OH JOY and FUN. If it does rain...then I'll be making ART. Either way we'll all be getting ready for tomorrow....FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL!!

Well, yesterday I planned to spend the day making ART...day didn't go as planned and neither did our evening. Had the same plan this morning...list of ART to do in hand...headed to the craftroom and..................... well our little lady bug woke up at 7:30 (usually it's 10 or 11)...so I'll be getting a little less ART time than planned LOL....unless she finds something very entertaining :)

Well we are wrapping up summer break here. The kids will start school on Monday.
Took our Son to get his school clothes in Beaumont....he's so easy...one trip to the mall...Old Navy and JcPenny's and he's done!! LOL So I treated him to stopping at Hobby Lobby and Michaels LOL He was thrilled LOL We did have good time though.
This week I drove to Evadale (about 45 minutes away) to pick up our oldest daughter's best friend....My sister and nephew went with us....and we made a day of it...took our recycle items to the collection bin in Beaumont and of course some shopping...this time we just stopped at Michael's. We found some great goodies!! :OD Driving in the rain wasn't my favorite though.
Now all school clothes and supplies are bought and clothes washed and ready to go. Brandi's schedule pick up is tomorrow. I've been getting back to my normal housework routine and we are adjusting our internal clocks by getting the kids back into a normal sleep pattern. Things are falling into place nicely and looks like we'll do well with the routine again (I actually function best on a strick rountine). Am a little worried that Brynna will have trouble adjusting. She will certainly miss them. I am looking forward to getting back to more ART....I always get more done when on a schedule :)
Today was our first Baby girls 15th birthday. She's our Little Miracle....born 9 weeks early at 3 pounds 8 ounces. We'll just say she's certainly caught up...and passed me up LOL She is a sophmore in highschool this year...just seems unreal! Can't get her to smile for a picture to save my life though....grrrr
Thank goodness we finally got to give her this Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer...so tired of hearing her ask for it...knowing I had already bought it LOL

Sunday we started working on the damage to the house caused by Eduard. Well, of course it wasn't something simple and we are now having to replace most of the back wall of the house.....all the way down to the seals (support beams). It turns out the the "professionals" that did the siding on the house in the 80s did it incorrectly and we had many many years of water damage. ARGH! So well such is life. It will be solid when we are done!! so we've been working until late each night.

I'm having one of those OFF weeks. Sam was off on Tuesday...and tropical storm Ed. made it a really long day. I wake up this morning feeling like yesterday was Monday. I did a little ART yesterday...but spent way too much time trying to figure out why our phone won't work (we are also loosing internet about 3 times a day---which rarely happens here). So the phone man is coming today. Thursday is usually the day I buy groceries...but not going today. We've been aware of the fact it's time to replace our cell phones...they are over 4 years old...but haven't done it yet. Well Sam's decided it will no longer take a charge (no it's not the battery...because it will charge in an older "junk" phone). I dare not ask what next! Oh yeah and talking about negative things....we lost a few more banana plants including the one with the beautiful pod pictured in my last listing. ARGH! Such is the circle of life.
on to something positive....ART!!!!!!! I actually made some!!
For the Paper Imagery Design Yahoo Group Weekly CHallenge...use your favorite PID image... I made this little hanger. Without the beaded hanger part is measures 3 x 6 inches. I just love the images at www.paperimagerydesigns.com so it was hard to pick just one....so I used two. :)
For the Lost Art Creations Yahoo group August Image (the adorable kittens in a basket) Challenge I made two pieces...again couldn't decide on one...so why not make 2. I used other images from http://www.picturetrail.com/lostartcreations also.
On the first and third piece I used some handmade paper by my friend, Chrystal. www.CSpaperandbeads.etsy.com I just LOVE her paper!!!!
Oh yeah and of course I've been making yo yos in my "TV" time.
Dear Sweet Chrysti http://chrysti.wordpress.com/�has announced and shared her beautiful photo that was chosen as the BREATHTAKING cover or Somerset Life Images.� CONGRATS Chrysti!!� She has issued a challenge to share the "�things we take for granted,or somehow deem insignificant… and makes them… well … a bit more noticeable.. you know, where the ordinary suddenly transforms into extraordinary."� Well while preparing our yard for Edouard yesterday I took out the time to take pictures of a few little things that are important to me.� When we bought this house, a deal we couldn't refuse�at the time LOL�I was unsure I could ever be comfortable or happy about living here.� My parents bought this house in 1978 and I lived here until�I got married in 1992...I had a nice childhood filled with wonderful times....but also my father passed away (at only 47 years old) in this house....which is a memory I will, unfortunately, always have.� I've tried over the years to make it our own....being that I have totally different taste than my Mom I think I've done that pretty well.� We've been gardening for the past 4 years....I have a brown thumb so have always stayed away from plants LOL� But discovered that I do very well with herbs, this last year I've branched out into flowers, a birdbath, and other things to liven up the back yard.� I LOVE being outdoors...but don't get nearly enough time outside.� So anyway while putting things were they hopefully would not blow away...I took the time to take pictures of our banana pods (Chrysti said she�didn't think she'd seen one) and a few or our flowers and� peppers....just because I think they are so pretty.
Here's a bunch of bananas with a pod still at the bottom....
Here's a closer look at the pod...the little things that look like flowers will turn into bananas, the large purple petal will fall off and another one will open to reveal more flowers.
The banana plants were Sam's project at first...but I've sure grown to love them over the years.

Edouard was just a little more than a really long rainstorm with some wind LOL� We were 6 1/2 hours without power and unfortunately had a little damage...so will replacing the back wall of our sons room.�� Yes, looks like this wall already had issues....yes it's an OLD house!!� UGHHHHHH I hate construction!!!�
We made the best of our time without power...I cleaned ... ceiling fans, bathrooms, normal housework, then made some fabric yo-yos....then sat on the porch and watched the girls make the best of it...playing soccer in the rain of course!� All in all a good day...I sure am drained though!
