Lots of Christmas happenings and little ART

Christmas is almost here....and we are doing lots of stuff to get ready.  I have the ART ideas swirling around and the urge to make ART...just not enough energy or time.  Guess I should be writing down some of these ideas LOL

I did make 10 decorative handmade envelopes to put gift cards and $$ in....for a few of our gifts. 

and while Mom and the girls were out shopping yesterday .... I whipped up this little nutcracker for my Mom...she's a nutcracker nut.  LOL  The nutcracker is a woven piece (like ribbon) that I recycled from a past Christmas card.  Looks pretty small here but it's about 4x6 without the ribbon. 

While I'm sharing...I thought I'd share a piece I put on top of out tree every year since we were married.  It's a Jesus Car Deodorizer that was in my car while we were dating.  LOL  I just loved it too much to throw it out and it's always gone at the top of the tree as a reminder of the reason for the season.

This year our tree is a small little half tree mounted on the wall.  But we also put an 8 foot tree outside on our covered porch.  It's gotten a few odd glances....but I love it!!  Especially when it's all lite up at night.

oh and back to speaking of NUTS....Mom bought Brynna a Dora book and paint set (let's keep in mind she's 2...ok will be 3 in Feb.).  She had a blast painting a picture last night.  But now that's all she wants to do off course.

Miss Sock Monkey....

I've finished the sock monkey I've been working on for our daughter Brynna :)  The kit I bought (many months ago at our Hancock's closing sale) looks like this...

But Brynna is a little girl that LOVES color so I altered her monkey just a bit ....

This was my first sock monkey....It sure took me a while...because I was having to sneak around while Brynna was sleeping, etc. to work on her.  But she's done now and cracking me up!!  Hope Brynna will like her :)

Shoppin', Wrappin', and Gettin' Ready....

I've been running around preparing for Christmas.  We also celebrated my WONDERFUL husband, Sam's, 35th birthday this week and my Mom's birthday last week....busy busy time.  Just 4 1/2 days of school left until the Christmas break...the kids are READY for a break. 

I've been doing a little knitting and sewing my first sock monkey (will be a Christmas gift for Brynna...I think the only gift I'll make this year----but we'll see...never know what wild hair will hit me.)  I did make some book thongs for a friend of mine needing some gifts, I made four and let her pick which ones she wanted....Ooops forgot to scan the others.  But these are the ones that she didn't pick (which I have put into my ETSY Shop)....

Journal Spread and ATC....

Finally some finished pieces....

I'm in a monthly 8x8 journal mingle with a group of ART friends.  These are the pages I completed for Abby this morning!!  (remember you can click on the images to see them larger)

While I had the supplies out and about I made this Winter ATC for the ArtChix Lottery....

Feels WONDERFUL to have gotten some ART time (Brynna took her first nap in well over a week this morning LOL).

On a not so cheery note...our family is doing a lot of praying, hoping and waiting.  My cousin, Jason, (9 months younger than me---he turned 34 in Nov.) had a bad reaction to his back medication on Saturday evening and stopped breathing.  They got him to the hospital ...took measures to keep him alive and get the medication out of his system.  They finally got him stabilized and into ICU at around 11 pm.  This morning they took the tubes out and he is responsive, but can not talk (the damage the tubes did to his throat will take some time to heal).  He is still in ICU now and we are hoping that he will be well enough to move to a normal room soon.  Praying is the most we can do right now.

Studio Spiffy Up Day....

2 weeks ago I bought a new CD player/radio for the craftroom.  Mine had went out about the time we had our now almost 3 year old and I've been creating without music since then.  Being that the nursery (now her bedroom) is right off the studio probably wouldn't have used one for a while anyway.  But anyway...bought the new one and it sat there waiting for me to clear a spot in the studio for it.  I've had limited crafting time lately and have really gotten away from my paper ARTs and more into fiber (because it's easier to bring along and start and stop).  The craftroom had pretty much turned into a catch all....so it needed a good cleaning and organzing.  That's what I've been doing for the last two days.  Cleaning the "studio".  Today I finished it up (for this time around!!).  Some areas could use some help....the ribbon drawers, stacks of fabric, etc.  But it's better and much more workable.  and I did get the CD player worked in.   So now I can listen to Rod Stewart, George Staight, Reba, and all my favorite CDS.  Tomorrow I hope to be signing and ARTing along to my Oh Brother Where Art Thou CD  ROFL  I just LOVE that soundtrack LOL  and yes you will  probably be able catch me howling along with Janis Joplin and Shakin my thing to Guns N Roses pretty soon.  lol

Fiber projects finally finished up and put in my ETSY Shop

Well I finally got some knitted and crocheted pieces finished and uploaded to My ETSY Shop.

2 knitted scarflettes (Short short scarfs that fit just around your neck....no pesky tails), a knitted wrist cuff, a Java Coffee Cup Cuff and a Smidgey Scarf (you know when you need just a little smidge of extra warmth  LOL)

Think I've already shared the JAVA Cup Cuff.  It's crocheted with Superwash Merino yarn handspun by Linda K.  BEAUTIFUL Stuff....I LOVE all the yarn I've ordered from Linda so far (Can't wait till I get my next order....but will have to wait on the beautiful sunset yarn...it's a Christmas gift from my Mom and she's actually going to wrap it up and make me wait!!!!)  anyway...I get this fabulous yarn here if you want to check it out.....www.primdollie.etsy.com
