Some New Pieces....

I made this gel transfer pin on a wood piece this week.  I added wire wrapping, chain and this beautiful moon charm from Top Hat. 

Friday night I made this Home is where the Heart is ATC for The Vintage Dragonfly lottery.  It's on a wood base that I stained (some time ago) with green ink. 

Today I spent lots of time outside with the kids and I made this 2 sided glass pendant.  It measures 1.5 x 1.5 inches.  It's the first piece I've soldered in a long while (since before I was pregnant with our toddler who is now 2 +).

Our Sunday...

We went to Chester Texas today for the Stick Bow Roundup (Which is a yearly archery shoot that we go to each year). 

 

There is a trail with 40 foam (faux animal) targets.  Here is Sam shooting, Brandi shooting, and Braydon shooting.  I did not shoot this year, but will try to get in shape to do so next year.  This year there was a fun new feature which was shooting  flying targets.  Here is Sam shooting at one....thought it was neat that I got the target, the arrow and him all in the picture.  The next picture I also thought was neat.....I guess we all get use to seeing the after effects of hurricane Rita....but here is the group next to one of the many uprooted trees on the trail.  and boy were we surprised to see Charlotte Cox and Sandra Collins people that we know from here...working in the cafeteria.  Anyway....a very nice day!!

When we got home things went a little south but we "salvaged" (literally) what we could and made the best of it.  When packing water bottles out of our large upright freezer before heading out this morning....we didn't realize that a bag of mixed veggies fell off the door and kept the freezer door from closing.  So by time we got home this evening almost everything in the freezer was defrosted (about 3 weeks of meat and vegetables).  I discovered this by stepping in a water puddle on the kitchen floor GGGGRRRRRR  We lost all our purchased vegetables, homegrown squash, zuchini, and okra, lots of chicken, pork and beef. I keep all our food for meals in this freezer and just snack foods in our small refridgerator freezer.   Out of a full freezer the only things that were still ok (but started to defrost --- so I will spend Monday cooking) is a pack of beef ribs and a large roast.  There was lots of weiners, bratwursts, sausage and zummos sausage that were still cold and icy(probably just because they were stacked) which we grilled up tonight.  So even though I'd just bought groceries on Thursday for the next two weeks....I'll be going back sometime this week and buying more.  But such is life...we are all healthy and made it home safely after a FUN trip.      so off to do laundry, put things away, and etc. to start getting ready for another week.  Only 7 1/2 days of school left...the kids are so ready for summer!

oh yeah on the drive I did some crochet and finished reading Kaleidoscope: Ideas and Projects for Kickstarting Your Creativity by Suz S.

Trade Days Treasures...

Every third weekend of the month our town has Trade Days on Port Neches Avenue.  We have a friend who owns Land of Oz Antiques (she has some of my ART and my husband's Barbed Wire Crosses available in her shop also).  I try to get down there and visit on the weekends....but really try to make sure I make it for Trade Days.  I was thrilled to find 4 FABULOUS jars of VINTAGE buttons at Old Towne Flea Market today.  WOW  There are a lot of WONDERFUL buttons here.  I LOVE BUTTONS!!!!  Especially vintage ones.

Of course I had to pour them out when I got home and see what was there.  And yes, I'm was a big NERD and divided them roughly by colors.....even though I don't have time to play with them or put them away with my others right now.  There was a few neat jewelry pieces and some buckles too.

When the mail came I recieved my returns for the Top Hat Altered Flags Swap!  THANKS to Paula for hosting a WONDERFUL swap and to Wynna for making some of the best supplies ever available to create with.  FUN SWAP!!

Bernie Berlin is a WONDERFUL friend  and one of the strongest woman I know.  Her accomplishments just take my breath away.  Her fabulous shelter A PLACE TO BARK has hit a rough spot...Bernie needs our love, support, and prayers....a Place to Bark (and all Bernie's furry friends) need our donations (even if it just 100s of tiny donations).

WOW---this week has ZOOMed by

Riverfest ended on Sunday the 13th.  WOW Long day!!  We got the booth all packed up and almost home before the skies opened up with pouring rain, thunder and lightening.  So we got a bit wet unloading all the booth stuff....tables, etc.  But we did have a WONDERFUL weekend at Riverfest.  We didn't sell out...but we did ok.  We were there mostly to help out our friend Liz (or Wiz as Brynna calls her LOL).    But the rest of the day Sunday was BEAUTIFUL HOT weather.

I did have a FUN surprise when I looked at my email Sunday night.  Thanks Andrea!!!~~~~ for featuring me on her blog---Cre8ive Juice (click here to see) where she features ETSY Artists that inspire her.

I spent Monday catching up on housework , Tuesday catching up on email, etc., Wednesday Sam was off, and Today was grocery day. 

The only ART I've gotten to make this week is this ATC for the TOP HAT "Not just for Kids" Lottery.

Riverfest ---day 3 (& now 4)

Earlier in the week I finished more necklaces for Riverfest....

I did the last four on chain necklace in case someone wanted one....but didn't like the beaded necklaces. 

Wednesday evening we worked on lots of marking and getting things ready to go to the booth.  It was set up the tents night..... and we ended up visiting with Liz, our friend from the Antique Shop Land of Oz, at her shop afterwards for a while.

Thursday morning Liz, her husband Jack, Michelle (my sister) and I set up tables, and set everthing out.  Here are some pictures I took of Sam's crosses and my things are we were setting things up.  My things were sat out more nicely in a decorative basket and we got things finished up.....and forgot to go back and take final pictures.  Oh yeah Michelle and Jack were on the 6 o'clock news that night :)

Thursday night we went to the Festival and I forgot my camera.  lol  But it was nice....nice breeze and just all around enjoyable.

Friday evening it rained but we did head out to the festival later.  Little muddy in spots....but still had a nice time.

Saturday we (kids and friends, my sister, BIL and Nephew) went from 2 pm until 5 pm.  It was nice besides feeling like it was 10 degrees hotter than Hell itself.  We (adults and toddlers) spent a good amount of time relaxing in the shade....

We took Brynna and Anthony to our Park Tugboat Island, which is a fenched in play ground area in our Town park where Riverfest is set up.  This was there first time to go and they LOVED it.  lol

   

I took a gazillion pictures of them playing but these give you an idea of how much fun they had.  Brynna is loving the festival (which she screams, as were are driving up to it.... "THE ROUND AND ROUND" )  She's points at the be rides like the Tornado and says "Me Ride, I go Round and Round" then the topper of the cake she points to the top of the Zipper and says "Wanna ride up there, Round and Round"  LOL  no of course I'm not letting our 2 year old try these LOL and the bummer cars--they are "fun boats".

Then when Sam got home, we rested, got ready and ate....we headed back out.  While getting ready, I was so tired I didn't realize that I'd left my purse down---travel purse not much in it.......but a little lipstick, wipes, wallet, etc (she was in the livingroom with Brandi and her friend Kaley and we have a monitor on in the bedroom---so wasn't the least worried LOL) She'd gotten out of Brandi's site (for "it was just like 2 minutes Mom!!")  lol

By the way old fashioned foam shaving cream removes Hot Pink Long Lasting Lipstick.  LOL

So anyway...Saturday night we spent at the festival again....forgot my camera again.  But we enjoyed ourselves.  Blooming onion, fresh squeezed lemonade, did some shopping, fireworks, etc.

I'll share some things I've done for my Mom for Mother's day in my next blog post...she hasn't seen them yet and would hate to ruin the surprise.

Riverfest is fast approaching!!

We are working away on our things for the Riverfest Booth this weekend!!  Sam actually had the day off (first time he's gotten his day off in a good long while) and he got more crosses finished today.  I finished 13 book thongs....

I also finished a batch of charms and working on beading necklaces for them....I've gotten 3 complete so far...

So now we are off to grill burgers and spend some time outside before I jump into some more necklaces.

Flags and Ice Cream....

Last night I worked some more on my Altered flags for the Top Hat swap.  I finished them this morning.

When I took a break we had ice cream.  Found the cutest little tiny cones called Dinky Cones...just enough ice cream to make a little one happy and usually doesn't make a mess.  Now I remember why she usually gets Vanilla  LOL

Luckily she's washable....

Hard to get a picture these days....she's constantly moving, talking, naming her parts, and laughing.  LOL  Constant motion!!

Constant motion describes us lately.  We are getting ready for Riverfest (8 days until we set up our booth--youch not ready!!), and Stick Bow Roundup.....plus so much more going on.  I've started and am working on lots of Bamboo Tile Charms and will share them as I finish.  Our Garden is taking off too...

   

LOL and as soon as I get some "extra" time (ROFL Extra Time!!)

I need to tend to my "Herbs Gone Wild"....YIKES!
